Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch | Review
A pimple/acne patch is a discovery of mine in 2017. I'm not entirely sure if this is a new invention or if I'm late to jump on the bandwagon, these patches have been a pimple-saver product to cure and protect any blemishes. I'll be discussing the pros and cons of pimple patches, specifically Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch which is highly raved in the Korean beauty market and won numerous awards. We will discuss if this product is worth the hype.
The idea of sticking a transparent sticker onto my face is surreal to know how it can heal behind the sticker. I have not used this product correctly since the first time I purchased it until recently I discovered how to use it properly. There are some rules that you need to know before using this to get most of the healing properties: a) this is only effective when the acne is swollen with pus (thick yellowish/white liquid) b) effective 'after' extraction c) leave it on until the sticker appears to have a white film covering the spot, then remove.
The sticker is not effective on hormonal acne that bumps up without pus or before extraction. It's because there are no pores open up that can absorb the bacteria underneath the swollen spot. To ease the extraction process, use lukewarm water to rinse your face or after a shower when your skin is wet. The skin becomes tender when wet and you can easily extract the pus. [Extraction is not recommended to be performed yourself, but rather by facial professionals]
However, if you have no time for that, the best option is to do it with tissues/a cotton pad. Never use your bare hands.
Steps To Pop A Pimple
Step 1: Split the cotton pad into two, use each with each hand and press gently onto the sides of the swollen acne.
Step 2: Use cotton to wipe the pus and blood residue off until clean.
Step 3: Use a toner or running water to clean the wound.
Step 4: Choose the correct size of the COSRX pimple patch and stick it onto the wound.
Step 5: Gently press the sticker onto the skin to secure its position.
Step 6: Wait until the white film is seen on the sticker, then remove it. For the white film to appear requires hours. I recommend waiting for half a day before removing it.
Step 7: After removing, use your cleanser and wash the residue off while washing your face.
After all these steps, the spot should appear to be dry and flat. However, on some occasions, after you peel it off, excess pus might still come off the spot. Repeat the same steps and use a new pimple patch.
One packet contains 24 various sizes of circle stickers. There is no scent or harsh chemicals in it. The stickers are transparent and less visible when put on the skin. It is easy to use. This is great especially when you're going out, and you wish to hide your new spot from getting infected again from bacteria in the environment as well as great under makeup.
All in all, I find this pimple patch to be effective and hygienic for acne spots to get healed faster. I highly recommend this especially if your acne usually has pus in them. These patches are also great for hiding pimples/acne under makeup to prevent further infection.
