My Massive Earrings Collection

earrings hoops studs trend
Here is a backstory on how I got my ears pierced. Back in primary school, most girls in school had their ears pierced, and to be relevant to everyone, I pleaded with my mom to get mine ASAP. As a typical Asian parent, my mom objected to the idea of piercing my ears as I was not old enough to take care of the wounds. Nonetheless, my mom was right. The wound was painfully inconvenient to deal with as I had to omit eggs and seafood while waiting for the pierced hole to heal. After passing through the painful stage of finally getting my ears pierced, I began my earring journey by wearing plastic studs to avoid unnecessary bleeding Gradually, I decided to try out various jewels and resin studs. To this day, earrings are the ultimate accessory choice whenever I want to ample up my look and as a form of self-expression.

Earrings elevate one's look and showcase the unique personality of an individual. Whatever the occasion may be, earrings are one of the best complimentary accessories to jazz up an outfit. They're a worthwhile investment.

Since my last nail polish collection, I feel the need to update on another obsession-turned-collection that has massively grown over the past decade. My earrings range from gold to silver, but the majority of them are gold as they compliment my olive skin the best. In dedication to my earring obsession, I will mention the oldest and latest pair of earrings I own; which are new and vintage; as well as my top favourites and recommendations.

As I counted all the earrings, I own 33 pairs in total. Which defines I'm an accessories hoarder. I believe I owned more than that, except for a few of them that were either broken or lost. These earrings will be classified into 4 categories- hoops, hooks, clip-ons and studs. Each category is arranged in ascending order, numbering from 1 to 33.

Dangles:

N0. 1 | Delicate Heart
This is one of the oldest pairs of earrings I have owned since early high school. The delicate circular ball lining up down the hoop creates an effortless classic hook suitable for a night out. The mini heart pendant breaks off the classy feel with a slight cuteness.

N0. 2 | White Marble
You can barely see the marble streaks across the plastic resin, but it's there, and the resin itself has a slight holographic tint adding an extra element to simple marble hoop earrings.

N0. 3 | Frosty Crystal
The foggy texture within the transparent crystal gives off a mysterious, bohemian vibe. Although I'm not into the boho style anymore. However, this helps to elevate a simple t-shirt and jean outfit.

N0. 4 | Sunny Side Eggs
When my favourite food is translated into an accessory, I must get it as it represents who I am. This type of earring acts as a communication starter with strangers.

Hoops:

N0. 5 | Substantial Silver Hoops
Imagine tying up your hair in a bun, then putting on these giant hoops. Instantly you feel sophisticated and woman somehow — basic earring must-haves.

N0. 6 | Medium Silver Hoops
At this point, one can never have enough hoop earrings. If you own a huge one, you're extra. However, a medium one is great for a regular daily look. FYI, this is one of the oldest hoop earrings I own.

N0. 7 | Small Silver Hoops
Again, you can see the versatility of hoop earrings. Originally, the hoops came on their own. However, I decided to jazz it up by pairing it with cross pendants, which give off a rustic grunge look. This applies to medium hoops as well.

N0. 8 | Heart Hoops
Bored with circular hoops, opt for shaped hoops like a heart, star or hexagon. I love how different variations of a heart hoop can look and this gives me a fresh outlook than normal hoop earrings.

N0. 9 | Classic Gold
You can never go wrong with classic gold hoops. Suitable for any outfit and occasion.

Clip on:

N0.10 | Gold Black
Clip-ons are great for those who are not committed to piercing their ears but want to have fun wearing earrings. This pair is vintage and secondhand. I'm in love with the mixing abstract pattern of squares and circles in an earring.

N0. 11 | Gold White
Another vintage pair that is unique and interesting. It looks circular from afar, but it's a mix between a circle and a hexagon.

Studs:

N0. 12 | Moon Face
One of my recent pairs of earrings. What else I can say other than unique and artful.

N0. 13 | Pearls
This is gifted by my best friend for their Instagram shop: acha.slb Amazing quality faux pearls for a trendy 2019 look.

N0. 14 | One Pearl
Simple yet elegant pearl studs are great for everyday wear.

N0. 15 | Festival Coins
Fancy stud earrings for the festival? You have one inspiration here.

N0. 16 | Triangle
Geometry shapes are great earring options if you're into the minimal design of earrings.

N0. 17 | Rustic Cross
I bought this when I was on a trip to Penang years ago. Unique cross earrings are hard to come by these days.

N0. 18 | Straight Line
Another minimal option for those minimalist friends out there. Just a straight across line hanging off on both ears.

N0. 19 & 20 | Circle and Heart Bling
Hotline bling, anyone? Lame joke aside, these sparkles can attract boys from far away. Another joke aside, these are classic earrings for dresses for dinners or events.

N0. 21 | Circle on Circle
If you want your statement earring to confuse people out there, this is for you. It also looks like magician rings where they hook and unhook in front of your eyes.

N0. 22 | Red Jewel
Jewels are a great element added to a simple set of earrings. Whatever colour they are, choose the colour you like. This feels like a crazy rich aunt straight out of a movie.

N0. 23 | Roses Are Red
Oh don't believe it, roses come in various colours. Set a date with someone and show them you have roses on your ears.

N0. 24 | Bronze Rose
Not enough romance, this bronze one is an edgier version. Suitable for casual outfits.

N0. 25 | 3D Triangle
This pair brings me memories of me and my best friends shopping for unique earrings in town. A cool and one-and-only piece that is on sale.

N0. 26 | Eagles
At one point in my life, eagle accessories are trendy. Despite an eye jewel that dropped off from one of the eagles, this is a sentimental piece that reminded me of the best time with my BFFs.

N0. 27 | Pom Pom
I DIY-ed these pom-pom earrings a while ago, and it held a special place in my heart.

N0. 28 | Chains
Need swag. Go for chain earrings. Rock those punks.

N0. 29 | Dangly Discs
These looked like CDs. Disc on my ears, yes.

N0. 30 | Plastic Marble
Another piece from my friend's Instagram store. It is a modern art piece for your ears.

N0. 31 | Cherry Bomb
My love for cherry prints does not stop there. I go all out with cherries on my ears as well. Cutesy yet fun to style.

N0. 32 | Sea Shells
Seashells on the seashore with pearls on the plate. Rhyming? Yes, that is how much I adore seashells, hence they have a place in my ears.

N0. 33 | Red Studs
This set is special as it is passed down by my mom. Love the 80s look with the pop of red.
