12 Budget Christmas Gift Ideas 2018 | Christmas Advent Week 1

It's the time of the year for a season of giving. Finding the ultimate gift for your friends and family can be fun and exciting, but running out of gift ideas can be challenging. Buying gifts can be taxing on your pocket and fret not, I'm here with a few articles on the budget-friendly items that I use and find worth mentioning as great gifts for anyone. All these are my picks, and you may take these as inspiration or add them to your shopping list suited for your friend's or family's personality.

[1] Trinket or decor piece

This is exceptionally functional for those who have a collection of earrings, rings or even hair clips. Fancy dishes that are either crafted or painted, intricate or simple in design, any shapes or size, it all depends on your receiver's liking and interest. I prefer mid-modern and straightforward design dishes to display and accentuate the small details of my accessories. The one I posted is from H&M's home. If your receiver has a unique interest in collecting dishes, you can gift them one and see them display the glorious plate in their home.

[2] Socks

Who does not need a pair of socks in their life? Socks are essential (especially for those living in a colder climate) and practical. As long as you're wearing a shoe, boots or even sandals (for fashion purposes), you need socks. To jazz up the socks gift for the holiday season, choose any that has glitter threads all over them. They may not be the most comfortable pair of socks, but hey, it's the season of joy, and you'll forget you're wearing socks when you're jolly. If you're looking for a pair of glitter socks, H&M has a great variety of colours to choose from.

[3] Lipstick

Any classy lady will find lipstick to be essential. Whether heading to work, attending a party or going for a walk, a glide of lipstick on your lips will lighten up your face and mood. To even emphasize more on the holiday season, choose one with a bold red tone. I find the classic Sephora cream lipstick to be moisturizing and lasting. Sephora has an excellent selection of colours to choose from which is great when you want to pick out the best colour for friends and family.

[4] Hair Clips

It's nice to inject a little something trendy this year for a gift. That is none other than the 90s - early 2000s hair clips trend. All the pearls, resin, and metal hair clips have been appearing on my Instagram feed. Fun fact- I used to love hair clips so much that I had a wild collection when I was 6. If you have a friend who wants to relieve the trend, surprise them with a bunch of hair clips.

[5] Earrings

I tend to buy earrings non-stop (pls help!). If you have someone who has the same struggle with collecting earrings and you know she's broke to purchase some more, spoil her another one this Christmas. The one store that I highly recommend for getting high-quality and unique pieces is IHVNOSTYLE in Sunway Velocity KL (sadly it's an hour's flight to get there). Trust me; they have amazing selections of all trendy earrings- that you'll wish you could buy all of them.

[6] Nail Polishes

The one underrated nail polish that I've been impressed with (not expected) and love is the one from Miniso. Miniso is a Japanese mart that sells various household items, beauty and skincare. I was gifted these glitter clear gel versions, and oh my goodness, the glitter reflects perfectly on my nails. They're super affordable and suit your sparkle dress and sparkling juice.

[7] Enamel Pins

If you know someone who's a hoarder of some sort, whether be it books, posters, records, pins, magazines or vintage tees, try to hunt those down online or in-store as a special gift for your friend or family. If you can find something that can represent the nationality or personality of a person, it's a customized gift that your receiver will cherish. I was obsessed with Pantun Pins for the longest time, and finally getting one from them was an achievement. I am glad to say that the designs of their pins are locally designed- support the art of your local designers!

[8] Lip Balm

Lip Balm can be a hit or miss. You'll want to give the best for your loved ones, and Sugar from Fresh is one of the best I've tested. It tastes like childhood candy that I fail to remember and glides on the lips like melted chocolate. Chapped lips are a big no-no during the holiday season so pampering your loved ones with a stick will make sure they'll have plump and smooth lips throughout the day. Bonus: they are tinted which leaves a subtle colour on the lips. Whoever loves natural beauty will love this.

[9] Travel Utensil Set

A metal utensil set is an amazing gift idea to bring awareness of being environmentally friendly while having their best meal. This is especially great for those who love to eat out and use a lot of plastic utensils. As we all know plastics never degrade and increase the amount of landfills, bring metal utensils everywhere you go. The set that is in the photo is a gift, but I believe you can find this in most household stores such as Daiso or even online. Hint: these utensils also come in bronze or rose gold colour!

[10] Candle

The one affordable yet amazing quality candle goes to Ikea. I especially love their scented candles (vanilla & apple cinnamon) for the holiday season. The scent of the burning candle brings warmth, calmness, and cosiness to any space. Anyone that you can think of loves to spend most of their time hygge at home, a candle is a must.

[11] Lip Gloss

Lip Gloss? Another trendy beauty item? Look no further than the lip vinyl (what a fancy name) from 3INA. I first discovered this brand on an Instagram ad. I immediately fell in love with everything they released as a makeup brand. When I got my hands on them, I couldn't stop wearing them. Although glossy, they're not too bright or sticky which overshines your lips and sticks to your hair. Their colour selection for lip products is beyond beautiful and available for almost all skin types.

[12] Hand Cream

You must know someone who cooks a lot, washes the dishes or stays in an air-conditioned room the entire day and needs substantial hand therapy. The one photographed is from Bath and Body Works which smells amazing and the packaging is just perfect as a gift. Another option for a more remedial hand cream to heal those dry, cracked hands is the ones from Crabtree&Evelyn. They have a great selection that is mild and nourishing on the skin.
