COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence | Review

Does anyone feel that skincare is a gamble at times when you simply predict the effectiveness based on reviews and ingredients? I passed and failed many times when I first started exploring skincare for my acne. Selecting skin care comes with experience and knowledge. The more you read and listen, the more you begin to understand the true beauty of skincare. Skincare is not just to beautify the skin or show a person's financial status, but as a way to improve the imperfections or issues found beneath and on the skin. This week I would like to share the power of essence. Snail mucin has been an ingredient sought after in the past years for its healing properties. Let's find out all about snail mucin through the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence.  

First of all, the packaging is minimal and clean. It comes with a pump and cap for closure. The product is packed in a clear plastic bottle which you can easily see the amount of product left. Each bottle is filled with 100ml of snail essence. The snail essence is clear and transparent in colour. There's no scent to it which is pleasing for those who are sensitive to it. The texture is lightweight with a slightly gluey feeling, a hybrid of both water and glue consistency. 

Once you spread the product across the targeted area on the face, it absorbs into the skin almost immediately. My skin felt moisturised after using it. The essence is said to give the skin a natural glow. It does provide some sheen to the skin after use. 

I would not say that it will give the instant glow but over time with consistent use, you can see the difference. If you experience dry patches on the skin, this will definitely help to restore moisture. The product also mentioned helping fade the redness or hyperpigmentation after breakouts. In my own experience, I don't see much difference after use. 

My hormonal acne doesn't react to the essence as well as I thought. Perhaps the product is gentle and doesn't make the cut in healing my acne scars. After reviewing both the pros and cons, I suggest if you're suffering from minor breakouts, this will be great to overcome them. However, if you have severe acne skin issues, this might not make the cut, unless you use this as a part of your skincare routine to moisturise the skin. 

Ingredients: Snail Secretion Filtrate, Betaine, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Polyacrylate, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Allantoin, Ethyl Hexanediol, Carbomer, Panthenol, Arginine

As stated in the product title, the essence contains 96.8% snail secretion filtrate that retains skin moisture while improving skin elasticity. Snail mucin also helps soothe and repair redness after breakouts. If pH level is your concern, the snail essence is of a pH level of 6.5. If you read the ingredient list above, the product is fragrance and alcohol-free. Great for all skin types including sensitive skin. 

COSRX is a cruelty-free brand and does not test on animals. If you sought a cruelty-free Korean brand, you can consider COSRX. The COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence is affordable and great for students as well as working adults. COSRX is well known for its products targeting acne, however, I don't see much work on these compared to other amazing acne products they release.
