Cosrx Blemish Cover Cushion | Review

COSRX is the first Korean skincare brand that I introduced into my daily routine. Their selling point was that their products were affordable and targeted at acne-prone and sensitive skin. My budget and skin condition ticked all the boxes. I was glad that COSRX was available to purchase in my country, and after 3 years of using their product, it's safe to say that their products are gentle on the skin (based on a few of their skincare products I've tried). They extended their brand into makeup, and I'll share their blemish cover cushion. You may have already seen comments and videos of people coveting this cushion, but here's my first experience with a cushion foundation (or makeup, yes this is the first proper makeup I've invested in) and how it stays on my skin in humid weather without putting on any powder.

First and foremost, the packaging is sleek and lightweight. I've travelled with this cushion a couple of times and the plastic case holds well. The outer closure comes with a press-and-push button which secures the mirror and product.

It comes with a decent size mirror which is great when travelling. The inner closure is pressure-like as it tightly closes the product, preventing it from leaking.

The product comes in the form of liquid soaked sponge. By lightly pressing on the sponge, the product can be transferred. Over 8 months, the sponge is still wet (as long as you close the lid properly after every use). I heard some people may experience drying sponges after a while, but I did not experience such with this cushion.

It also comes with a soft sponge (not photographed in the pictures below) for application. I highly recommend using the sponge when applying the product as it smoothens the product evenly on the skin.

The blemish cushion contains SPF 47/PA++, great as a second layer of sunscreen on the skin. I had the cushion in Natural Beige #23, a neutral tone with a slight yellow undertone, suitable for light to medium olive skin tone. The one downside of this product is that it only comes in 3 colour tones and the darkest colour suits medium and olive skin tones.

Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide, Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Phenyl Trimethicone, ButyleneGlycol, Cyclohexasiloxane, CI 77492, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Niacinamide, Diphenylsiloxy Phenyl Trimethicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Disteardimonium Hectorite, SodiumChloride, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, 1,2-Hexanediol, CI 77491, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Caprylyl Glycol, CI 77499, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Adenosine, VinylDimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, Water, Ethylhexylglycerin, Madecassoside

The names darkened are those beneficial ingredients that help to heal and calm acne-prone skin. A few of the ingredients to take note of are dimethicone and stearic acid. I don't prefer dimethicone or stearic acid in my skincare, but with makeup or sunscreen, my skin reacts well.

The texture of the cushion is like melted ice cream, which is somewhat thick yet fluid. You can see from the picture above, that the consistency is semi-matte, which is great for combination skin or oily skin in humid weather. The coverage is medium but buildable. However, it can look cakey with many layers. On my worse skin days, this is not enough to cover my hormonal acne, and I need to apply concealer to fully cover up.

This is great for evening out the skin texture or acne scars. A one-time application without powder lasts me half a day with slight sweat. This lasts even longer if you spend 8 hours in an air-conditioned room.  I have combination skin, so the lasting power may vary on oily or dry skin type.

As my first cushion ever, I'm pretty impressed with the formula and texture. It's a non-irritant makeup product with amazing skincare ingredients that can help problematic skin. The coverage is so-so if you have medium to severe acne skin. Budget-friendly for those who need a medium coverage cushion foundation for your acne-prone/sensitive skin.

You can purchase this through YesStyle (International) or Hermo (Malaysia).
