Biotherm Life Plankton Essence | Review

French beauty has been known for its natural and simple skincare products. Well-known French brands that I've known were Bioderma, La Roche-Posay, Caudalie, Avène and Biotherm. With that said, I'll be sharing my thoughts on the Biotherm Life Plankton Essence.

Biotherm claims the product stimulates skin regeneration and soothes and protects the skin. The life plankton is a patented method of bio-fermentation which preserves its regenerative power. The essence is also targeted toward those with sensitive skin. One of the functions that had me invested in using the product was to help prevent being linked to acne. As a person with acne, I knew I needed to test it out.

My review will be based on the sample sizes I've used for 2-3 months. I'll focus solely on the product itself instead of the packaging. I stopped using this after 2-3 months as I was readjusting my skincare and focusing more on my hyperpigmentation. This readjustment will not affect my thoughts on the essence, as I'll only share specifically what I felt when I was using the essence over 3 months.

I found this brand at a counter inside a local store. The specialist recommended the Biotherm essence and the anti-pollution series (which I'll review soon).

The essence is in a cloudy clear colour with a water-like texture but thicker. There's a light pleasant scent. It feels a little sticky when I first apply it to the skin. However, once it dries up, my skin feels soft and supple. It also leaves a nice soft glow on the skin. I used this during my night time routine and to my amazement, the next day I woke up with glowy, plump skin. I was not exaggerating as I was also amazed by how my skin had a shiny film despite having acne all over. I was at one of my worst acne periods when I was using this. The essence doesn't hurt my acne, but also not as healing as I thought it would. But, it does make my bumpy skin smoother, softer, dewy and brighter. I can sense that my skin is a lot brighter compared to when I'm not using it.

Ingredients: Aqua, Glycerin, Maris Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Propylene GlycolCaprylyl Glycol, PPG-6-Decyltetradeceth-30, Vitreoscilla Ferment, P-Anisic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, PhenoxyethanolAdenosine, Sodium Hydroxide, Limonene, Benzyl Benzoate, Cellulose Acetate Butyrate Polyphosphorylcholine Glycol Acrylate, LinaloolCitronellol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Geraniol, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Chloride, Tocopherol, Parfum

Despite the essence containing alcohol and perfume, considering they're at the bottom of the list (lower not the list means the least amount), I do not find it drying at all. Instead, my skin felt smoother than before.

Price-wise, the full size of 125ml costs RM237, which is in the mid to high range. If the price is not a concern, I highly recommend this if you want to step up the glass skin game. I've seen some compare this to the SKII treatment essence, however, I've not tried it myself so I'll leave it as is in case you're checking out either one of the products mentioned. I was amazed by the technology and how it helps improve my skin tone and texture. It is one of the best essences I've tried so far.

Let me know what you think or if you have any recommendations, do leave them down below! I'd love to know more! Speak to you in the next entry, stay safe x
