B.Lab Matcha Hydrating Foam Cleanser | Review

I find myself sticking to one cleanser for years - which clearly defines my loyalty toward a specific product. As I'm recovering from post-acne, I wanted to branch out to a new cleanser. I was scrolling through Shopee and came across B.Lab Matcha Hydrating Foam Cleanser. I was intrigued by the ingredient, matcha. However, I had a horrible experience with foam cleansers for sensitive skin. I was debating on this until I looked further into the ingredient list. We shall find out if this is worth trying, especially for someone who is acne-prone.

The packaging is minimal and clean and comes in a plastic tube and cap for easy cleaning despite it being white. Love how aesthetic it looks on the sink counter. A tube of the B.Lab Matcha Hydrating Foam Cleanser contains 150ml of product. It's easily squeezed into a controllable amount. Love that it is leakproof despite being placed upside down.

The product comes in a thick, paste-like consistency. The texture is slightly grainy as it contains the actual plant leaves and stems. However, once you mix in a little water and rub it on the palm, it becomes foamy, soft and silky. The paste is in a muddy brown colour (very organic colour) which may be unpleasing visually but it turns into white foam after rubbing with some water. There's the earthy or grassy scent to it which again may be a turn-down for some people unless you don't mind it. The scent doesn't affect its performance as a cleanser.

B. Lab is derived from the word Bath and Laboratory. The brand focuses on creating skincare using natural ingredients to promote a better environment. B.Lab Matcha Hydrating Foam Cleanser claims to be soothing and pH-balancing.  The cleanser is formulated with 10,000ppm of Green Tea and 2,550ppm of Green Tea Leaf Extract. This helps remove impurities while protecting the skin barrier. It also contains Centella Asiatica Extract to help with healing and soothing the skin, while Hyaluronic Acid provides hydration.

Ingredients list: Water, Glycerin, Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Betaine, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Laminaria Japonica Extract, Eclipta Prostrata Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Lauryl Betaine, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Sodium Chloride, Polyquaternium-39, Decylene Glycol, Allantoin, Butylene Glycol, Fructan, Fructooligosaccharides, Beta-Glucan, Ceramide NP, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Hydroxyacetophenone, Ethylhexylglycerin

As you can see in the photos above, it looks muddy when you squeeze it out, but as soon as I add some water to it, it turns creamy and foamy at the end. The product cleanses and removes oiliness on my skin while leaving my face feeling soft and silky smooth. I use it twice a day- once in the morning and at night. For the morning routine, I use only a pea size. At night, I usually double cleanse- which means 1 pea size and 1 finger size of the product. Despite it being foamy, it doesn't feel drying at all. Some foamy products can be drying for dry or combo skin. However, that's not the case with this cleanser. Matcha and green tea are two different plants. Despite the title being matcha, the ingredients are green tea extracts, not matcha.

Overall, an affordable yet effective cleanser for everyday use. The foam cleanser is great if you have acne-prone or combo skin. If you're into natural ingredients skincare, this is one for you. Let me know your thoughts on this cleanser if you ever try it out! Take care and speak soon x
