72 Hours In Singapore
Felt so rusty to be documenting my travel logs but here I am- eternally grateful to be able to fly again and this time with my sis & mum to Singapore.
KCH -> SG
We landed at 11pm. First experienced their Self Check-In immigration, which was a smooth and fast process. Rode on the train from Changi Airport to Chinatown Station.
Chinatown
We chose to stay in Chinatown at the Mono Hotel. Despite being known as a more touristy area, there is so much more the town has to offer.
Universal Studios
If you'd known me, I wouldn't be the most eager to visit Universal Studios (thanks to my sister's plan) but that changed my mind as soon as I stepped into each of the zones/themes. I was blown away by the 4D experiences. The most memorable ones were Lights, Cameras, Action and Transformers (despite the long queues).
Hawker Culture
We only managed to explore the Chinatown Complex Food Centre (one of the largest hawker centres in Singapore) for most of our breakfasts. The hawker centre was a ginormous maze- with over 200 hundred stalls to explore and food options to choose from. We were overwhelmed and lost our way in there but the food quality and portions were worth the time to dine there. I wished I had taken decent pics of the stalls, but a few of the star dishes we've tried were their wonton noodles, char siew pork rice, sesame/almond paste, and Japanese set meals.
Nanyang Old Coffee
A coffee shop with a mini museum upstairs. There's so much nostalgia wrapped in a small alley shop. Some of the old items displayed were reminiscent of what we had in Malaysia as well. The dishes we've tried were interestingly good especially their coffee and toasted bread with sesame dipping *chef kiss* (not in pic).
Chinatown Street
Sightseeing the buildings and mural art as we were walking along the Chinatown streets. Some buildings looked like they could pass as a Wes Anderson film and some could be an old street in an aged Chinese film.
Haji Lane
It was a good walk along the alley filled with hipster shops tucked on both sides.
Five Guys
Damage done at Five Guys. Surprisingly, the bacon hotdog tasted so much better than the hamburger. We had a spontaneous meeting with Aunty Meena this noon. Spoiled us with fast food, then fancy desserts and rode the bus to our next destination. Such a blessing to know her as our role model during our past camp seasons, and it was a beautiful catch-up after the last meeting with her before the pandemic.
Skyscraper
Your typical tourist to-do list- checked. Walked over 20,000 steps on this day (we nearly gave up but we made it).
Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre
I was curious about Chinese culture as a whole and decided to visit this museum to learn more. It was one of the best well-spent afternoons on this trip. The centre highlights Chinese cultural identities and the use of various dialects in their everyday languages (some are similar to the ones we use in Malaysia). It was an interactive exhibit where you could answer questions by scanning your wristband. Highly recommend this museum if you're ever in Singapore (bonus: it is FREE admission!).
Is anyone a JJ Lin fan?
This comes in handy.
Kingdomcity SG
Visited Kingdomcity in another city on a Sunday morning. We're so glad that our cousin opened up to join us in attending the service.
Food For Thoughts @ National Museum
We celebrated our cousin's birthday on Sunday with a lovely brunch at the National Museum. We rode on a double-decker bus around the city and jumped on the train to Buigs Street before heading to the airport.
Ezlink
A pro tip: We initially planned to purchase the SG Pass at the airport, but the office was closed. The Cheers convenience stores we went to were out of stock, so we resorted to an Ezlink card- which was the best decision as they're cheaper than SG Pass, and you can reuse it on your next visit.
Jewel Changi
Stopped by right before our flight home.
SG -> KCH
Homebound. Let's take a moment to appreciate these #nofilter beauties.
A new trip coming up soon!
