Handmade Heroes Cocolicious Luscious Lip Scrub | Review

Curious and wonder if lip scrubs work? Or is it another marketing gimmick by skincare brands? I knew little about lip scrubs, not until I searched for natural or vegan lip products online. Lip scrubs are generally known to remove the dead cells on the lips leaving luscious soft lips. As I was gifted with a lip scrub from Handmade Heroes, what other better way to break it down and review it for you.

Handmade Heroes are super creative with their product names. For this lip scrub, they rhymed, "Cocolicious Luscious Lip Scrub" in Coconut Sorbet. Inside the tub, it calls out "Ultra Sexy Scrub, Ultra Sexy Pout". Sounds super sensual, but guess what? It works to gauge my curiosity about how smooth my lips can be with it.

Jokes aside, the packaging is a little flimsy as it's a plastic tub with an aluminium cap. For hygiene purposes, will need to use a scoop to maintain the longevity of the product.

The lip scrub is made out of coconut oil and sugar, hence the texture is coarse. Despite the texture, it doesn't feel as much friction when rubbing on the lips. The scent of coconut is strong which I enjoy, but if you personally don't like coconut, then you may want to reconsider.

The product doesn't melt upon application which is effective in scrubbing the dead cells on the lips. One side note though, is that the sugar can drip or fall off as you scrub your lips. So, do ensure that you use it in the bathroom sink to avoid ants (since it's literally sugar!).

After using the product for a few months now (1-2 times per week), I can feel that my lips are smooth and easy to apply on lip products the next day. I don't think one use will grant you smooth lips for the next few days but with consistent use, there will be fewer dead cells to remove. One apparent difference will be smooth and brighter lips.

Ingredients: Sucrose (Sugar), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut), Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Lecithin, Glycerin, Tocopherol (Vitamin E)

How I Use:
1. Moisten the lip area.
2. With dry hands (emphasis), scoop the product out.
3. In a gentle circular motion, rub the product onto the lips for 5 minutes.
4. Rinse with water and remove any residue of the dead cells from the lips easily.
5. Ready to apply lip balm.

What do you think of a vegan, natural lip scrub? If you have dry, flaky lips, you can consider a lip scrub to brighten up and smoothen the lips.
